Saidi – Folkloric dance from Upper Egypt
This folkloric workshop will begin with a short introduction to looking at music as beats and bars. We will look at the different ways of striking the finger cymballs and then learn to play a basic finger cymbal pattern on the Saidi beat. We will move on to combine the finger cymbal playing with a few easy steps of Saidi dance choreography, which you will be able to repeat and practise. Enjoy the earthy, cheeky and powerfully feminine dance from the deserts of Upper Egypt.
